Celebrate Your Inner Light: A Summer Solstice Reflection + Intention Practice
By Jody Williams | OceanFire Designs
The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year. It’s not just a date on the calendar. It’s a powerful moment, a peak, a sacred checkpoint. Nature calls us to pause, breathe, and take stock of our lives.
The Solstice invites us to slow down and look inward in a world that rushes us forward.
It’s the sun at full power.
Its clarity is rising to the surface.
Embracing the Moment
Now is the perfect time to ask yourself:
What am I carrying that I no longer need?
What would I like to report?
What’s already working that I want to stay rooted in?
This practice aligns your inner self with the energy of the Summer Solstice. It encourages reflection on the past and intention-setting for the future.
It’s not about becoming someone new.
It’s about remembering who you are when the noise quiets down.
Finding Your Space
Find a quiet space, whether it's a secluded corner of your home, a peaceful park, or even a quiet room in a bustling city.
Turn your phone on silent.
Take a few minutes for this intention-setting practice.
Summer Solstice Intention Practice
Awaken Your Inner Light
Wherever you are, let yourself fully arrive. You don’t have to be calm. You don’t have to be ready. You just have to show up.
Begin with a slow, gentle inhale through your nose, down into your belly.
Release slowly through your mouth, making a whispery "haaaaa" sound.
Do that one more time.
Let this breath mark the beginning of your reset.
The Threshold of Change
The Solstice is a threshold. It’s a space between what was and what’s next.
The Solstice gently reminds us that growth and rest can coexist.
It's okay to take a break while still moving forward.
Now ask yourself:
1. What is one thing I’m ready to release?
Something you’ve outgrown. A pressure. A belief.
You don’t need to force it. Just name it.
And with your exhale, imagine loosening your grip.
2. What is one thing I’m ready to welcome?
A way of being that would serve you now.
Not something you “should” want—but something your body and spirit say yes to.
Breathe it in. Let it land in you.
3. What is one thing I choose to continue?
A strength. A truth. A quiet rhythm you’ve been keeping.
Feel the power in that decision. Let it ground you.
Pause here.
Let these three intentions settle like stones in a river—solid, clear, and genuine. When you’re ready, return.
Returning to Your Daily Life
Return to your daily life with a renewed sense of presence, a clearer vision, and a brighter light within you.
A little more clarity.
A little more light.
Summer Tunes to Celebrate Your Inner Light
The Metta Sutta | Loving-Kindness Meditation
This Month’s Meditation of the Month | Recited by Jody Williams
This is the Metta Sutta, an ancient Buddhist teaching on loving kindness, spoken by the Buddha over 2,500 years ago. It remains as relevant today as ever.
This isn’t a guided meditation with prompts. This is a transmission. A poetic invocation of peace, dignity, and compassion. A reminder to live with a heart that is boundless, inclusive, and brave.
Remembering Your Inner Light
The solstice doesn’t ask you to be more. It asks you to remember. To return to the fire already burning in your chest. You are not half-lit.
You are a force. A flare. A sacred spark in motion.
So light your candles, speak your truths, and walk like your presence is a ritual.
This season, let your inner light lead the way—unapologetically, unshakably, and unforgettable.
From OceanFire Designs: Keep your rituals sacred, your fire lit, and your heart aligned with the sun.
